What the symptom is telling you
The fault behind "no hot water" is rarely the same twice. A unit can sit silent, hum away and still deliver cold, or run hot for one shower and lukewarm for the next.

If one has tripped, reset it once. If it trips again, leave it alone and call us.

Water pooling under the tank or weeping from a valve means the problem is physical, not a setting.

Check the pilot light on a gas unit
If it is out, follow the relight instructions on the label. If it will not stay lit, that is our job.

Note the pattern
Lukewarm rather than cold, or hot-then-cold, helps us narrow the fault before we arrive.
Anything past that, leave alone. Heating units mix power or gas with pressurised hot water, and that combination belongs to licensed plumbers.
